The expert decisions issued by National Expert Medical Commission (NEMC) are now sent fully automatically to territorial divisions of National Social Security Institute (NSSI) via the Secure Electronic Delivery System (SEDS), without need for human intervention. This significantly reduces time required to complete entire process of issuing an expert decision for patients and eliminates errors in manual data entry. The integration was implemented by Information Services as an additional feature of Medical Expertise Control Information System (MECIS), enabling faster and more secure document exchange between institutions.
“By digitizing the exchange of expert decisions between NEMC and NSSI, we have taken another step toward full digitalization of process for issuing decisions on permanent reduced work capacity, where institutions exchange information in an automated, transparent, and secure manner,” said Milena Ugrinova, Senior Business Analyst at Information Services. According to her, digitalization enables more efficient and faster administrative services for benefit of citizens, with goal of allowing patients to receive compensations as quickly as possible.
Introduction of electronic exchange of expert decisions between NEMC and NSSI ensures full traceability, predictability, and reliability of the process. Through SEDS, the system automatically sends each new expert decision to relevant territorial division of NSSI immediately after it is issued, with notifications and confirmations of receipt handled entirely electronically.
Since October 2020, when MECIS was launched, nearly 900,000 applications have been processed through the platform, with a total of 891,100 expert decisions issued by TEMC commissions. Expert decisions issued by National Expert Medical Commission have exceeded 50,000.
Citizens can view their issued expert decisions by TEMC and NEMC through the “Medical Expertise” module, which is part of the electronic health record in the National Health Information System. Access is provided via the eZdrave mobile app, as well as at my.his.bg.
