Information Services upgrades the National Cybersecurity System with USTDA support

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has officially notified the Bulgarian National System Integrator Information Services regarding the commencement of the substantive implementation of the contract for the development of a national cybersecurity system. It is planned that Information Services` Cybersecurity Monitoring Center which currently oversees the critical infrastructure of certain government agencies, will be upgraded and transformed into a National Cybersecurity Operations Center. In this way, the company will coordinate prevention, response, management, and the provision of an effective mechanism against cyber and hybrid attacks across the entire public administration in Bulgaria. The American partners have already secured the necessary funding, and the project teams have begun the required preparatory activities.

The administration of the President of the United States has carried out a detailed review and assessment of the project’s effectiveness and has prioritized the allocation of the resources needed for its implementation. This represents a major success for Bulgaria and for Information Services. Once again, this reinforces the excellent partnership between the institutions. The importance of the planned activities has been recognized as part of the commitment to transform the country into a reliable Euro-Atlantic partner in the field of cybersecurity. The U.S. administration acknowledges the achievements and professionalism of the cybersecurity team at Information Services. The implementation of the initiative will directly support the country’s cyber capacity to meet the new European requirements introduced in the recently adopted amendments to the Cybersecurity Act.

According to experts, the trust in the operational model established by Information Services—serving as a structure that guarantees the cybersecurity of critical operational processes, information systems, and public administrations in the country—contributes to international recognition of this approach and demonstrates the level of development that has been achieved.
