Nearly 8.5 million immunizations have been registered in NHIS

Nearly 8.5 million documents for administered vaccines have been registered in National Health Information System (NHIS) over the past 4 years. Data shows that the most administered immunizations are against seasonal flu, tetanus, and diphtheria. Users can view their administered vaccines, as well as those of their children, in electronic health record in NHIS, which is accessible through website my.his.bg and eZdrave mobile application.

Vaccines module of the electronic health record consists information about all immunizations recorded in NHIS. For each administered vaccine, is shown the disease it protects against, batch number, dose sequence, and the date of the next dose, if applicable.

To facilitate users, a personalized calendar for upcoming immunizations has been developed in Long-term health care module of the health record, which is updated at the beginning of each year according to each individual patient.

By the end of July 2025, historical data from information array of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) for vaccines administered to citizens before 2022 is expected to be included in NHIS. "Filling in immunization data in electronic health records is extremely important for users, who will now have complete information about their administered vaccines. Based on the results, health authorities will be able to make more accurate forecasts and current policies related to vaccination coverage of the population," said Boris Kostadinov, Director of "Software Integration" at Information Services.
