Over 60% of court cases initiated through the electronic portal are completed in less than a month

More than 60% of the electronic court cases have been completed in less than 30 days, according to the summarized data from the Single e-Justice Portal (SEJP). In comparison, before the platform's optimization some cases took several months to complete and some took more than a year. Now, the time has been drastically reduced at every stage - from initiation of a case to its closure. The optimized portal, which was launched by Information Services in March 2023, saves citizens and lawyers significant time and costs by eliminating the need to visit court buildings, wait in lines, gather paper documents, etc.

"The digitalization of processes in the justice system has made the judicial process easier, faster, and more accessible for all participants," stated Nikoleta Stoyanova, Head of the Business Analysis Department at Information Services. According to her, the optimized e-Justice portal significantly improves the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of the judicial system reducing the time for processing cases and facilitating both citizens and judicial authorities.

The data shows that the total number of electronic court cases initiated exceeds 21,300, with nearly 8,000 of them initiated in the last four months alone. 98% of all submitted initiating documents have resulted in electronic cases, indicating that the process of filing cases is almost entirely digitized, saving time and resources. The analysis shows that more and more citizens are taking advantage of the opportunity to initiate court cases electronically. The portal is actively used by nearly 22,000 users, and lawyers and legal entities manage cases and submit documents more quickly and easily. The data shows that the total number of electronic accesses to court cases in the last two years reached 410,000, which is a sixfold increase compared to all accesses before its launch.

In addition to the ability to submit documents entirely online, the optimized SEJP provides the ability to review court documents and decisions in real-time, electronic summons, online payment of court fees, and synchronization with court hearings in the calendar of the mobile device. In the next phase of digitalization, the e-Justice portal will expand its capabilities with more automated services, including integration with other state platforms and more online payment options.

As part of the optimization project, Information Services developed the eCase mobile app, which offers quick access to court cases from a mobile device, review of electronic documents and case history, electronic summons and real-time notifications, and automatic reminders for court hearings. In just a year and a half, the open user sessions in eCase exceeded 860,000, indicating growing interest and trust in the developed electronic system.
