In response to suggested changes by the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union (BPhU), Information Services has developed a functionality of the National Health Information System (NHIS), which creates an option for pharmacies to correct electronic prescriptions. The new feature allows master pharmacists to reverse electronic prescriptions when an error is detected or if a correction is required for any other reason. This would a great relief for those working in the pharmacy network, BPhU said.
It should be noted that the correction can only be made through the functionality created in the pharmacy software and only by the pharmacist who made the release through a qualified electronic signature (QES). Another important feature includes the option that the correction or reversal can take place only within the day of dispensing the medicines.
When the electronic prescription is reversed, it becomes visible in the NHIS and the pharmacist can correct it if a technical error was made. It is also possible that the electronic prescription may be revoked by the pharmacy or the doctor if mistakes were made in prescribing medication. The system allows the prescription to be executed at another time or in another pharmacy.
