Over 30,000 certificates were regenerated in less than 4 hours

The total number of regenerated EU Digital COVID Certificates for vaccinated people exceeded 30,000 in less than 4 hours. This has happened after Information Services put into operation the system for reissuing documents in European format on 04.06.2021 at 14.00. It was developed to ease it as much as possible for citizens as they do not need to visit their GPs or the vaccination centers that administered the vaccine.

People who already have certificates can regenerate the documents in European format from the website of the National Health Information System www.his.bg, section “Me and my family”. To do so, they must enter the PIN, ID card number and National Reference Number (NRN) generated during the registration of the set dose in the National Register of Immunizations. The NRN can be found in the old certificate, in the column “National reference number”. The system allows downloading the document only if all entered data are filled in correctly. The generation of the certificate does not require a qualified electronic signature (QES).

“The significant number of reissued documents in just a few hours shows that the system is operating flawlessly,” the Information Services' CEO Ivaylo Filipov said. According to him, so far no technical problems in generating EU Digital COVID Certificate have been found.

Bulgaria is one of the 7 EU member states that started issuing EU Digital COVID Certificate on June 1, 2021, although the EU regulation officially introduced a month later. The other countries are Greece, Germany, Croatia, Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic. A total of 13 countries have succeeded to integrate their systems with the centralized system of the EU.
