In response to the repeated manipulative and blatant lies by the Member of Parliament and Chairman of the PP “We Continue the Change”, Assen Vassilev, Information Services categorically states:
The company has never been assigned, nor has it ever performed, any actions related to the configuration of voting machines. These activities are assigned by the Central Election Commission and are performed by a private company.
Information Services has never been assigned and has never performed any actions related to checking voting machines. These activities are assigned by the Central Election Commission and are performed by the private company that is also assigned to configure the voting machines.
Since the introduction of machine voting in Bulgaria in 2014 to date, the supplier of voting machines, their technical maintenance, and the creation and maintenance of voting machine software has been the private company Ciela Norma JSC, which is the sole partner of the manufacturer Smartmatic for Bulgaria.
Information Services reiterates that, according to the Electoral Code, the company is solely responsible for the organization and technology of computer data processing (data aggregation) at the Regional Election Commissions and the Central Election Commission from the voting and the publication of the election results, including those from machine voting.
We hope that in the current pre-election situation in the country, the members of parliament, those who draft the Electoral Code, and those who make the laws in the Republic of Bulgaria will finally be properly informed about the facts related to the electoral process and the commitments of each participant in it. It is high time to stop the political speculation that only leads to a continued undermining of confidence in the electoral process in the country. It is no coincidence that since the parliamentary elections held in 2021, the number of Bulgarian citizens exercising their right to vote has decreased by nearly 750,000.
we once again remind that Information Services has never had, and does not have, any involvement in the technical support activities related to machine voting with the specialized electronic voting devices (SEVD), including the configuration, installation, inspection, or modification of the software.
Information Services will not allow itself to be involved in the election campaign, which has clearly already begun, when this is done through manipulation, suggestion, and lies.
